Barú: Tropical Tranquility

Thanks in part to a friend of a friend (thanks, Andrea and Janine!), we were recommended to explore nearby Islas Rosario. Andrea gave us a fantastic recommendation to stay in a hotel in Baru called Las Islas because of an intentional natural and ecological focus. The hotel is interwoven in mangrove forests and carefully structured to minimally disrupt the fragile ecosystem.

Paul and I used our time in Baru to relax, embrace tranquility, and restore our souls. This year brought many sudden changes to our lifestyles that required constant adaptation and of which were often filled with much uncertainty. Between Paul's injury in March, unsteady housing while we leased our home, a sprinkle of rental drama, and house renovations, there is no denying that we felt exhausted. Our time in Baru helped us realign, find balance, rekindle our relationship, and mentally prepare for our travels ahead.

It truly felt like a second honeymoon for us and we feel stronger because of this tropical paradise.  Below is a glimpse of our time in the area. Between breakfast by the water to sunsets above forests, we loved every moment of it.

We feel so appreciative of all the people that call this place home. They were so warm, kind, and supportive.

Sunset view of the treehouses we stayed in.

Paul paddleboarding in clear blue Caribbean waters.

Ceviche cooking class. Perhaps one of the best we've had!

Delicious desserts and meals during our stay.

Evening strolls through the mangrove forest.
